Four Best Free Acoustic Drum VST's


Having Good sounding drums in key to getting your mix sound good. This specially true when you are trying to program your own acoustic drum parts. There are a bunch of great sounding paid drum vst's that i can recommend but they can set you back quite a bit. The Four Free Drum VST's we are going to be looking at have great drum samples and compatible with both windows and Mac OS (M1).


1.Steven Slate Drum 5.5

This one is one of my favourites! SSD Free is based on the full version of SSD. The plugin comes with three great-sounding free deluxe drum-kits. The Deluxe Tight Kit, Deluxe Free Edition, and Deluxe Free Hugo

The Plugin also comes with some comprehensive editing options with no limitations. You can select individual drums, customize the mics and routing, choose your MIDI maps, customize your velocity and dynamic curves for each drums, and build your custom tone exactly as you want it


To download SSD, a valid email address is required to receive the download link. You will need to download and install the Slate Audio Center licence manager, which will be used to install your Steven Slate Drums software. The installation is pretty straight-forward and does not require an ILok account.

2.IK Multimedia MODO Drums


IK Multimedia's MODO Drums free version comes with one great sounding studio drum-kit perfect for Rock and Pop Genre.The best thing about the free version is that you get the complete MODO Drum engine.

You get complete control over dimensions, materials, skin, sticks, playing style, etc.It brings more of a human element than you’d get from the average drum software.


To download you will have to first register for free and download IK Multimedia Manager. The Go back to your Accounts Page and Copy the serial number for Modo Drums. Now get back to Product Manager and click on register and use the copied serial number to register free, Authorise and Install. Yea i know its bit of a hastle with IK ! But

3.Spitfire LABS Free Drums



LABS Drums is an acoustic drum kit sample library compatible with the LABS virtual instrument by Spitfire Audio.This free drums from spitfire has a great sounding and well recorded kit. The interface is pretty straight forward to use as-well with just two sliders and one Knob One of the Sliders Controls the overall volume and the other one controls the velocity curve. The Single Knob is for the In-Built Reverb

To Download you just have to register for free and download Free Drums and Loads other free instruments Via their Manager.

4.MT Power drum Kit 2
